Train to Hunt was started in 2011 because there was nothing in the fitness world that provided hunters with workouts designed specifically for them. Workouts that had guys and girls alike reaching for their backpacks and bows and heading outside, rather than heading for the weight machines and ellipticals. After a year of providing daily workouts, we still weren’t getting the participation that we had hoped. Then it hit me…most people need something to train for in the near future. Hunting season is short for most people and they don’t even think about getting in shape for a hunt until July, August. They hit the indoor leagues in the winter, and the 3D circuit in the spring and summer to sharpen their shooting skills, but there is nothing to really get in shape for. That’s when the Train to Hunt Challenge came to the forefront. I know hunters will get in shape for an event that will ultimately increase their confidence, and chances of arrowing a giant in the fall. Throw in the possibility of winning some amazing hunting gear from big time sponsors, and being crowned “The Fittest Bowhunter in the West,” and you got yourself a reason to train right now! I’m just interested to see where this man, this woman, and this master hunter will come from. Arizona? Washington? Idaho? Colorado? It’s hard to say. Washington has the most hunters registered to give it a shot right now.
